Marcela Aroca, a senior partner at Legal Focus in Windsor, Ontario was retained by myself and a group of 30 taxpayers, spread across Ontario, to challenge the CRA over a particular tax ruling we very much wanted to dispute. I had researched and spoken to a number of law firms across Ontario to find a firm that fit our needs. In the end we chose Legal Focus and Marcela to be our representative. Several things set Marcela apart from other lawyers interviewed. First was Marcela's extensive knowledge of the Canadian tax system. It is her specialty and her focus. Second, Marcela is a highly respected tax lawyer in the community both because of her knowledge and professionalism. And third, Marcela provided a very professional, realistic and sensible assessment of some of the challenges we would face in our quest, which increased our groups confidence in her approach and ability.
